Testimonials
Having been traveling individually for 40 years, we wanted to go up the Nile. "6 days in a Sandal" is an excellent formula (plus a week individually in Cairo). We particularly appreciated: - a small group (14) sharing the same approach to travel, so a great atmosphere - the docking in the village, the visits, the short circuit for food, the "on foot" philosophy... - the comfort of the sandal, its mobility, we avoid the big boats and the "herds" of tourists on site - the responsiveness of Ahmed, our French-speaking guide, his knowledge, his humor, his insight into life in Egypt today What you could improve - remove the mercantile visits to 3 shops in Luxor (so the visit to Karnak was botched... - the visit to the temple of Amun in Luxor, a must, should be included and not optional. - an extra 1/2 day in Luxor would be welcome. In the end, a very nice trip!
A perfect trip for couples. We loved: => the comfort of the boat, with a very attentive crew, an incredible cook and a small tugboat that wasn't too noisy => the professionalism of our guide Ahmed, who was incredibly patient and who avoided the busy times as much as possible, bent over backwards to organize little extras (thanks for Karnak by night!), always had the tickets and documents in advance, guided us through the small villages, and also told us about Egypt from his point of view. Brilliant! => The ancient sites, of course. Breathtaking! the night train. For my part, I didn't sleep much, but it was really something to do to experience the country! The first day in Cairo was a little less pharaonic, due to another incompetent guide, but Nomad reacted and we were able to have someone exciting the next day. Note that if you are familiar with Ancient Egypt, the cruise is there to introduce you rather than to delve into the subject 😉
I am satisfied with my trip to Egypt and my cruise on the sandal. On board, the crew was very professional and adorable. The chef treated us to delicious local dishes and the atmosphere was very joyful throughout our cruise on the Nile. Ali, our guide, made us discover with passion, all the splendors and wonders of Egypt. The hieroglyphs ... He allowed us to meet the local population in their homes, on the roads, in the villages. In the schools. It was very enriching to meet the Egyptians and to share some moments with them. I would personally like to congratulate Ali. A big thank you to Ali, our guide, who by his professionalism, his good humor and his kindness amazed us with all his knowledge throughout the trip.
We came back very happy from our trip. The selected sites seemed to us to be a good choice, the navigation on the Sandal is a privileged moment, out of time. The cabins are well designed, the staff is very attentive. The guide took good care of the group, implemented our requests, and his comments guided us through history and civilization. The train is also a good experience. The 2nd part of the trip took us to Fayoum, a completely different aspect of the country, quite interesting and the day in the Valley of the Whales in 4x4 is a great memory. As for the visit to Cairo we found the program, which was completely respected by our guide, a little "succinct": we would have gladly stayed 1 or 2 hours more at the Museum for example. On the 2nd day we were back at the hotel around 2:00 p.m. it's a shame. Our 2nd guide informed us well in the various areas of this program.
